Have you ever had an eerie feeling that something in your life is about to begin before something critical to your essence has a chance to resolve? Now you are about to have more than one life to manage within your very self--not externally, like producing children. You know your corporal body is busy trying to keep death away as long as you can. You know your spiritual mind is busy keeping you focused on your energy, your chi. You are going to have a transcendental moment, and you are not packed, not ready, can't find your shoes, realize you do not need shoes, need a snack for a journey not measured with time or space. You feel it. You are excited. You want to make sure you don't accidentally delete. You command your mind to remember everything so that when you are slushing around in your usual dimension, you can recall and relive the spark, electromagnetic ecstasy. This is going to happen to me within the next 88 days. Wish me luck!

Sometimes you need to approach ideas in strange ways, looking for something that will help someone learn something they do not necessarily want to learn, but need to, either for the moment or for a particular reason. See if this sticks with you at all....

Today I woke up to a story indicating that the 4th of July in the United States is not that relevant because the actual declaration of indepedence took place on July 2nd but the "founding fathers" did not get around to formalizing it until the 4th. Also, Betsy Ross did not design or sew the American Flag and this story was started by her descendants in the 1900s. To top this off, the Liberty Bell story about an old man signaling to a young man up in the bell tower to ring the bell when the document was signed makes for a nice story but is not true. The journalist asked the person being interviewed why Americans put such emphasis on believing things which were not "true". He said that we are a land of immigrants who brought different languages, customs, and ideas with us but we had nothing to bond us as Americans in America. According to this author, whose name I will track down later, the purpose of myths is to focus a people towards a common goal or experience. So here we are in 2006 with traditions based on some truths, but with inaccurate history books. I suppose this happens in other countries too. So what kinds of myths can we create about Plate Tectonics?
